Here’s hoping you had a wonderful Christmas! And a toast for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, Cheers!
I’m sure you’ve been enjoying your favourite tipples over the holidays, here are two of mine in case you fancy something a little different. Both are based on what is probably my favourite spirit, gin. The dog rose is named for its delicate pink colour and the rosemary it contains and the elderflower G&T speaks for itself. I sometimes like to use gooseberry and elderflower cordial which is available from the good folks at Yarty.
Whatever you’re doing for New Year’s, I hope you have a good one. See you in 2012!
Dog Rose
- 30ml sloe gin
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- tonic or lemonade
- ice
In a glass muddle the ice, sloe gin and one sprig of rosemary. Bash the rosemary to release the oils.
Strain into a champagne flute and top up with cold tonic or lemonade. Garnish with the second sprig of rosemary.
Elderflower G&T
- 25ml elderflower cordial
- 40ml gin (Hendricks is my preference)
- tonic water
- a slice of lime to serve
Pour the cordial and gin over plenty of ice in a tall glass. Top up with tonic, stir and finish with lime.
